Job Description:
Data Engineering (DE) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated experienced
Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
to join our dynamic team in Perth for a contract position.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our Oracle database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in database administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle database systems (versions 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c).
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability. Analyze and resolve performance issues using Oracle tools and techniques.
- Implement and manage backup and recovery processes using Oracle RMAN. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure database security by implementing access controls, encryption, and auditing. Apply security patches and manage user roles and permissions.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues. Provide support for application development teams, including SQL query optimization.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency by implementing data validation and quality checks.
- Develop and implement scripts for database automation tasks using Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Create and update standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.
- Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of Oracle databases.
- Monitor database storage and growth trends. Plan for future capacity requirements and scalability.
- Apply database patches and perform upgrades with minimal downtime.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as an Oracle DBA in a production environment.
- Extensive experience with Oracle Database versions 11g, 12c, 18c, and 19c.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and GoldenGate.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and management.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux, UNIX, and Windows.
- Knowledge of database backup and recovery tools and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification.
- Experience with cloud-based Oracle databases (Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS for Oracle, etc.).
- Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
